Taste of Onalaska 2017 – Onalaska Education Foundation’s Biggest Fundraiser
Taste of Onalaska, the major fundraiser for the Onalaska Education Foundation, will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 5 – 11 p.m. at the Stoney Creek Inn. This is the eighth annual event for the education organization which hopes to raise money in support of their mission to fund innovative Onalaska public and private educational programs.
A number of area businesses and people have stepped up this year to help sponsor the event. They include Dave & Barb Skogen (Festival Foods), Cowgill Dental, John and Linda Lyche, Mayo Health System, Coulee State Bank, Mastercraft Builders, Jeff and Stephanie Maves, Mathy Construction, JRM & Associates, Altra Foundation, BMO Harris, Jay and Dawn Jaehnke, FiberPro Inc., RTP Company, United HealthCare Services Inc., LaCrosse Sign, Citizen’s State Bank, Kwik Trip, Pepsi, Mark and Angela Binsfeld, Stifel Nicolaus, and others.
Doors open and drinks will be served at 5 p.m. Food will be served from 6 – 8 p.m. The evening will include samples from many area eateries and caterers, including: Grizzly’s, Cabin Coffee, Premier Catering, Outback Steakhouse, Mexican Tamales, Big Al’s Too, Burrachoes, and Carroll’s Popcorn and Frozen Yogurt. Each will feature a sample size fare of some of their signature dishes. Tap beer and wine will be available with purchase of beverage tickets plus Stoney Creek will have a full service cash bar for mixed drinks and bottled beer. Water and soda will also be available.
This year we are featuring nine casino tables where participants can enjoy the games and win tickets to be used for chances at great prizes. Each of the public and private schools in Onalaska will provide a theme based basket for the raffle and/or silent auction. Come see our local “celebrity” dealers at the tables. A Silent auction, 50-50 raffle, and Kohler golf package raffle will complete the evening. Companies who would like to show support by donating a raffle or silent auction item should contact Angel Benrud at onalaskaeducationfoundation@gmail.com.
Plan to attend a super evening that is not only delicious and fun but a great way to support Onalaska public and private school programs. Tickets are $30 each, which includes admission, food and starting chips for the gaming tables. Tickets are available from any Foundation board member and on the website at www.oef.wpengine.com
All funds raised during the evening will be designated by the board of directors of the Foundation to Claude Deck Innovative Teacher Grants. In October, $12,000 was awarded for innovative teacher grants bringing the total amount awarded by the Foundation for this program to over $124,000.
Tax-deductible gifts to the Foundation are an investment in Onalaska education and the community. Contributions can be mailed to Onalaska Education Foundation, 1821 East Main Street, Onalaska, WI 54650 or for more information on the foundation go to www.oef.wpengine.com.
